Wesleyan Community Care stands ready to support communities in their most challenging moments. Our disaster relief efforts are built on a foundation of local partnership, ensuring that aid is delivered quickly, effectively, and with a deep understanding of the local context.
A Partnership for Recovery
We believe that local churches are best positioned to care for their neighbours during a crisis. Our disaster relief occurs through strategic partnerships with local churches whose communities have experienced a disaster. Instead of managing from a distance, Wesleyan Community Care provides the necessary funds for these churches to support their local community directly during their time of need.
Our Impact in 2025
In 2025, Wesleyan Community Care was active in supporting several communities facing significant hardship. Recent relief efforts included:
- Coochiemudlo Island: We supported Pine Chapel by providing petrol funds, enabling them to use power tools and vehicles to assist vulnerable residents in clearing fallen trees following Cyclone Alfred.
- Western Queensland: We provided vouchers to local churches to distribute directly to farmers struggling with the aftermath of environmental disasters, helping them access essential supplies.
- Taree: We supported the Wesleyan Methodist Church Op Shop, which served as a vital hub by providing free clothing and household items to community members in the wake of devastating floods.
How We Work
By equipping local churches with financial resources, we ensure that help is personal, immediate, and dignified. This model allows the local church to act as a hub of hope, providing not just physical supplies, but also the practical and emotional support that is so vital in the aftermath of a disaster.
